Gratitude!

I appreciate the warm welcome to blog world from my daughter, sister and sister-in-law! This has been a very interesting and educational experience. I just learned that the slide show pictures I added at the bottom of the page can be flipped through and accessed at flickr by the blog reader! Wow! Enjoy!

First Blog Post !

How to begin? I will dip my toes in the water and try this out... I really don't need another thing to devote my time to, but this sounds intriguing and a good way perhaps to reach out ?

Just witnessed two squirrels mating as I raised the curtains on a new, moist cold pre-winter day. A symbol of renewal, hope and life in action! A wonderful, relaxing, loving Thanksgiving week is finished filled with family from both sides and the exciting news that George - and by extension, me - are going to be grandparents! Mike and Amy gave us this pleasant surprise shortly after their arrival from Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day. The first thing George said the following morning was "I'm going to be a Grandpa!" We continue to periodically exclaim this every now and then!

Had a wonderful time with my sister-in-law, Chris, who came 2 days before Thanksgiving from Baltimore, Maryland. She is fun to be with and such a great help too! She and Anya were supposed to arrive on the same plane. I knew something was wrong when only Chris arrived at the baggage claim alone. She apologized and said that she couldn't recognize Anya.....so, I called the little tike on my cell phone and asked where she was! A sleepy voice replied that she was just getting ready to go to the airport. Hysterics followed when I informed her that her plane had just landed in Cleveland! We calmed her down and she got another flight for $50 more that evening (which of course meant another trip to the airport!).

Shared dinner with 15, and Steven, Anya's boyfriend, came later to share dessert. It snowed just enough to make it look pretty. A very busy, enjoyable day filled with all kinds of things to be thankful for. Friday afternoon Chris left for home and we took Mike and Amy out for dinner and to visit Stan Hywett Hall, all decorated for Christmas. It snowed almost 3 inches although the roads were good.

Well, I suppose I should go in to work a bit today. I am finished teaching for the year and my grades are all in. Just have to clean up the lab and my office and take care of misc. critters. I need to revise a syllabus for the next onslaught. I will be teaching 5 introductory biology lab sections again next semester. That should keep me busy!

Well, that's it for a first try. Make it a good day!
