Bathroom Update

The blue bathroom is almost finished ... just need to get the daisy embroidered curtains up and the door stained, varnished and up. Ran into a bit of a problem there. I can't remember which color stain I used on the bedroom door and I think I picked the wrong stain for the bathroom door. I started staining it today and it isn't the same color. Sigh.

Nominated

I was nominated for an adviser of the year award as adviser of the AIBS Chapter at Hiram College! It means I have to go to an awards assembly Monday evening ;-( Three other people were also nominated, so I rather doubt I will receive the award, but it was nice surprise to be nominated!

We almost have the bathroom finished. I need to apply a bit more paint here and there, make curtains, install the new light we ordered and stain, varnish and hang the new door.

Productivity!

I /we need to go back to work to rest!

This weekend we did the following: laundry, took parents to airport, went to school to care for plants/snails, hung a picture in the hallway, shopped for trim for the bathroom, a wall vase for the bathroom, blocks to mount the rain barrel, top soil, manure, seeds for the garden, weeded a couple of flower beds, created two new silk flower arrangements for the bathroom and worked on knitting George's new socks. George golfed in the morning, weeded the new flower bed, trucked the remnants of the mulch to same bed, installed the rain barrel, cleaned the morning glory vines off the lattice and worked on grading papers, and we had a hot dog roast on Saturday.

Sunday we took a mile walk, hung another picture in the hallway, weeded flower beds, planted pansies, reseeded the bald spots in the yard, weeded around the fence with Round Up, painted the bathroom trim, installed the trim, put up the wallpaper border in the bathroom, installed the toilet, took 2 trips to the hardware store (and need to go back again!), installed the cabinet and sink and new faucet, dug up and planted a new 5'X 5' garden plot, did a little knitting, roasted a chicken with garlic cloves and had a fabulous dinner with cranberry wine!

Whew!

An Easter Miracle!

Guess who arose from the dead this morning at 9:30 am????!!!!!
Our cat, Astra / Arlo!!!!!!!!!!! He's been gone for about 2 weeks! We were pretty sure he must be dead.

He came walking into the yard this morning and the other cats greeted him like they were saying, "where have you been???" His eyes look pretty raw and sore, but otherwise he looks pretty good. He acted very shy and wouldn't come in the house so I gave him some food outside. He didn't seem overly ravenous so I'm wondering where he has been! Maybe he is a 'dual home' cat and they have kept him in or something. Who knows!

Anyway, we were very glad and surprised to see him! What a nice Easter gift!
We might start calling him 'Jesus'!!!

Happy Easter!!!

Yesterday I got a sunburn - today it is snowing like crazy!

Yuck! The birds are feeding like fiends and the snow is coming down like crazy! Good grief! They are saying anywhere from 3 -5 inches to a foot in the 'snow belt'!

Yesterday we restored order to most of our gravel driveway, removed the plowing stakes and took down the Christmas wreath from the garage peak (which unfortunately had a bird's nest built on top of it!). I worked on the yard/garden a bit in a t-shirt and even got a bit of a sunburn. Put the unfortunate bird's nest in the nesting box on our window. Maybe it will encourage someone to move in. Mrs. Bluebird has been examining it. She still tries to get in our front picture window daily. The cats love it.

Speaking of cats, I fear we may have lost Astra/Arlo. He hasn't been seen for a week. I hunted for him off and on, but no luck. We may be down to two cats. He was a good cat. He loved everyone, but was very shy.

Went to visit Uncle Johnny Friday afternoon and took him a bouquet of daffodils. His feeding tube had come out and he was waiting for them to take him to Geauga Hospital to have it reinserted. He said all he wanted was a cold glass of water and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Poor man! I hope he gets this wish soon. They have to take the tracheotomy thing out first.

This is my last week of class. Thank heavens! I am sick of grading papers. I need to finish planning out the Biology 153 class for this summer this week as well. 'Tis a silly place' at school.

Happy April Fool's Day!

Heaven.

Sitting in my swing in the backyard after a productive day's work, contemplating the daffodils, listening to the wind chimes and birds singing about Spring, with a glass of red wine, a bowl of chili, two cats and dog to keep me company.

Heaven.
